Massage therapy
Massage Therapy may be loosely defined as 'the application of manual and mechanical techniques to manipulate the soft tissues of the body in order to bring about greater health, vitality and overall well-being.' There are many different techniques and approaches of bodywork from various healing traditions around the world. Most are intended to improve the functioning of the human nervous, musculo-skeletal, and cardiovascular systems. Doing so increases the flow of oxygen, nutrition, and life force to the tissues and the flow of waste products from the tissues. Other forms of bodywork focus specifically on movement of the lymphatic or cerebrospinal fluids of the body. Several techniques from the Orient and the Native Americas endeavor to affect change in an indivdual's energy (prana) body or emotional (astral) body.
